Opinion | Why the term ‘anti-Palestinian racism’ has an uphill climb to recognition
By Shree Paradkar, Social & Racial Justice Columnist
Don’t criticize Israel or Zionism.
Don’t protest in front of a bookstore whose owner supports the Israeli military.
Don’t protest in front of a synagogue hosting an Israeli real estate sale of illegally settled land.
Don’t call for a boycott.
Don’t wear a keffiyeh.
Don’t say “Palestine”.
These are just some of the pressures faced, in varying degrees, by those who oppose Israel’s out-of-control war on Gaza. To support Palestinians is to be held in suspicion of antisemitism and sympathy with terrorists via uncharitable interpretations of words — which I can attest to — and actions.
